most important = lizzie and grandma. lizzie's mom did not have a good relationship with lizzie's grandmother and lizzie had never met her grandma. it was a way for lizzie's grandma to right the wrongs she made with lizzie's mom

Lizzie and the boyfriend, Owen. Because of him, Lizzie got to experience having a relationship with a member of the opposite sex because she was so young when she died.
