a gardener...
they probably choose a different path because it elsewhere its all about enjoyment, there are no worries. in elsewhere you know how long you have, there are no big suprises.

They may not have liked their past life. IE. Curtis overdose
Because they grew and didn't want to repeat the same mistakes in this lifetime. They want to be helpful
